NEW PRODUCTS & SERVICES

1. DOMAIN NAMES

  • New Introductions: We’ve added 4 new extensions to the system –
    • .SX
    • .PRO
    • .NL &
    • .PW

    .SX and .PW are the newest TLDs to be re-introduced in the market. It should be interesting to see the success they can achieve before the new gTLD program kicks in later this year.

  • Internationalized Domain Names: IDNs have been introduced for .INFO, .ORG, .BIZ and .EU on the platform which will definitely help in increasing the adoption rates for these extensions, especially in non-English speaking countries

  • Super September: We ran successful promotions across a suite of domain name extensions in September 2012. With the overwhelming success of this project, we’re looking at creating this magic again in 2013!

2. WEB PRODUCTS

  • Geo –located Hosting has been rolled out for all single domain, multi-domain and reseller hosting flavors, across US, UK and India

  • Windows Reseller Hosting too has been introduced in the system and come with Plesk and WHMCS control panels

SYSTEM UPDATES

  • SuperSite 2 Rollout to all Registrars: The new Supersite has a better intuitive flow and enhances the experience of every customer – irrespective of whether they want to simply purchase a single domain or are looking at buying an entire website setup. A ton of new features like IDN support, easier customer signup flow, etc. also feature on this new interface

  • Extra secure Password Resets: As part of the many security enhancements to OrderBox, the process for retrieving forgotten and old passwords has been revamped to create a more secure environment

  • OrderBox System Mails revamped: Email notifications for every purchase in the system have been streamlined to deliver a better messaging structure to users

  • Bulk Renewal Module improvements: This module has been made more efficient to provide a better, hassle-free experience to users

  • Improved Domain Search Results via the API: This update provides more wholesome information about the queried domain name

  • Cloudflare on Hosting Packages: The robust service that protects and accelerates the performance of websites has been implemented on our hosting packages. Features of Cloudflare include a strong content delivery network, better security and in-depth analytics

Top 10 Most Popular TLDs now on OrderBox!

We’ve recently added .NL and .CN to our TLD portfolio on OrderBox. With this update, the top 10 most popular TLDs are now available on OrderBox. For reference, this list includes the 9 largest TLDs available in the market today! (Source: VeriSign DNIB, Dec ’12)

About .NL

.NL – the ccTLD for Netherlands, was introduced in the year 1986 and is the first ccTLD ever to be registered. Currently .NL is the 5th largest ccTLD by count in the world and the 9th largest TLD overall. The year on year trends of .NL domain names is given below.

About .CN

.CN, the ccTLD for China, was introduced in the year 1990. Currently .CN is the 4th largest ccTLD by count and 8th largest TLD overall. The year on year trends of .CN domain names is given below.

.SX – The Hottest New Domain of 2012 is Live on OrderBox!

.SX, the official ccTLD for St. Maarten, is now available on OrderBox.

Branded as the ‘Hottest new TLD of 2012’, the .SX domain is associated with adult content and falls in the same bucket as .XXX. The .SX Registry is managed by SX Registry SA and they’ve partnered with OpenRegistry to provide the back-end Registry services.

Anyone can register a .SX domain name without any restriction or requirement for local presence on the Island.

Background on .PRO:
Launched in June 2004, .PRO is the Top-Level Domain for professionals across the world. Registrations were initially restricted to lawyers, accountants, physicians and engineers in France, Canada, Germany, UK and the US.

However in September 2008, it was relaunched as a TLD open to a wider audience of certified professionals across the world.

As of July 2012, over 160,000 .PRO domains have been registered by users all over the world. Moreover, it has seen an immense growth in monthly additions by achieving an average of 6,500 .PRO domains registered every month.

What is the use of a .PRO domain name?

Rise of the New gTLDs

ICANN has recently publicized the list of new gTLD applicants and the strings that will compete with the 22 existing generic TLDs and 290 odd ccTLDs that exist today.

A total of 1930 applications have been received. These constitute 1409 unique strings. Over the next couple of year, some of these strings will be open for public use and will most certainly change the way we use the internet on a day-to-day basis!
