We conducted a webinar on ‘Integrate Vertically: Realize the Full Potential of Your TLD’ on Oct 3, 2013. In the webinar, we shared insights into some interesting industry trends that will impact new TLDs in some way or the other. These trends are strong indications on how the industry is set to evolve in the short and medium terms. TLD applicants, who are leaders of the Internet revolution, will need to respond to these trends in order to survive and succeed.
We discussed the distribution models that have been employed by TLDs in the past and how Vertical Integration which wasn’t permitted until only recently by ICANN, now offers a distribution advantage to most new TLDs. Existing TLDs too aren’t wasting time, most are quickly Integrating Vertically. Yet, since each TLD is unique in almost every way, there can’t be a one-size-fits-all outreach and distribution plan. In the webinar we discussed these and then some other critical factors surrounding TLD launch and distribution plans.

- New Introductions: We’ve added 4 new extensions to the system –

- Internationalized Domain Names: IDNs have been introduced for .INFO, .ORG, .BIZ and .EU on the platform which will definitely help in increasing the adoption rates for these extensions, especially in non-English speaking countries
- Super September: We ran successful promotions across a suite of domain name extensions in September 2012. With the overwhelming success of this project, we’re looking at creating this magic again in 2013!
.SX and .PW are the newest TLDs to be re-introduced in the market. It should be interesting to see the success they can achieve before the new gTLD program kicks in later this year.
2. WEB PRODUCTS
- Geo –located Hosting has been rolled out for all single domain, multi-domain and reseller hosting flavors, across US, UK and India
- Windows Reseller Hosting too has been introduced in the system and come with Plesk and WHMCS control panels
SYSTEM UPDATES
- SuperSite 2 Rollout to all Registrars: The new Supersite has a better intuitive flow and enhances the experience of every customer – irrespective of whether they want to simply purchase a single domain or are looking at buying an entire website setup. A ton of new features like IDN support, easier customer signup flow, etc. also feature on this new interface
- Extra secure Password Resets: As part of the many security enhancements to OrderBox, the process for retrieving forgotten and old passwords has been revamped to create a more secure environment
- OrderBox System Mails revamped: Email notifications for every purchase in the system have been streamlined to deliver a better messaging structure to users
- Bulk Renewal Module improvements: This module has been made more efficient to provide a better, hassle-free experience to users
- Improved Domain Search Results via the API: This update provides more wholesome information about the queried domain name
- Cloudflare on Hosting Packages: The robust service that protects and accelerates the performance of websites has been implemented on our hosting packages. Features of Cloudflare include a strong content delivery network, better security and in-depth analytics
